Skills competitions
The national skills competition Drywall Systems 2021 selected 8 most talented young builders from all over Poland who competed to be the „Best of the Best” in the national finals on October 21-22, 2021. The event was hosted by Zespół Szkół Budowlanych im. Kazimierza Wielkiego in Radom, where the participants had to complete a demanding competition task.
The organizers, Łukasiewicz – Institute for Sustainable Technologies in Radom and the Confederation of Construction and Real Estate in Warsaw, provided competitors with necessary tools and materials as well as professional advice of experts from the construction industry. The qualification stage as well as the national finals were practical events. Not only did the competitors have to present excellent professional skills to win the competition, but they also had to work under time pressure, organize their work according to chosen priorities, deal with stress and disappointment.
Quick response to change and accuracy determined victory that day. The competition showed the students their professional possibilities. It also made them aware of what skills are needed in the labor market today.
The competition was based on the WorldSkills and EuroSkills events, which bring together the most talented students and finalists of vocational skills competitions from around the world. In most countries, competitions begin with school-level qualifications that end with national finals.
The winners become national champions in their skills and represent their country at international competitions. We hope that the Drywall Systems Competition 2021 will become part of such a talent identification system and will thus start a new series of multi-stage construction competitions in Poland.
The winner was Paweł Fijałek from Zespół Szkół Ponadpodstawowych im. Jana Pawła II in Radzyń Podlaski, the 2nd place went to Łukasz Mazurek from Zespół Szkół Ponadpodstawowych i Placówek Opiekuńczo-Wychowawczych nr 3 in Piotrków Trybunalski, and the 3rd place to Mikołaj Kaczmarek from Zespół Szkół Budowlanych in Radom. Congratulations!
The Drywall Systems Competition 2021 was the first such initiative in Poland. The honorary patronage over the competition was taken by the President of the City of Radom.
